Hey all,
While browsing Brickshelf recently I happened to fall upon a folder with
detailed photos of the new Hailfire
Droid.http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=42877 Along with the
other photos Simon Bennett was kind enough to photograph the new rotation
gear against a baseplate. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=396288
It appears that the new gear has an outside diameter of 28 studs and the
inside diameter of 22 studs.
Enjoy
OnDrew
P.s. thank you Simon for providing the photos

personaly i dont think they will be large enough to build a rotary. this is
mainly because the center point of the rotation gear is also in the same
position as the couplers.

Right. Has to be else you have to decouple. However if the guestimated
height someone posted elsewhere in the thread is correct it will be plenty
high for 6 wide trains.

8 widers might be out of luck though.
