I was at a walmart today and i saw the sets, and left empty handed.  There is
not much to be excited about, imho.  I like the new slave I, but not at that
price ($70).  I like the gunship (kind of) but not really, and not for that
price ($100).  The bounty hunter set is nice, but would have been better served
as two smaller sets- i don't like the car, but Zam's speeder is pretty neat
(Makes me excited to see what TLC does with future space lego!).  At $40,
though, i still won't be buying it.

Then, we have the small sets, which are barely worth mentioning, since they are
overpriced, underpieced and generally lack creativity.

There is nothing between the sets, unless i am missinga huge part of the line.
Maybe that will come out later in the year or something, but there is nothing
akin to the snowspeeder or the naboo fighter- a solid set for a decent price.

I guess i won't be buying much of these news ones.  I was really sad, after
seeing the cross-section book, there are a lot of cool ships to be made... i
have high expectations for the xmas half of the year...

(...) <><><><>SNIPPED<><><><> Ummm...I tend to agree a little about the sets, but I was just up at TRU not 15 minutes ago and they had the Slave I for $50, the Republic Gunship for $90, and the Bounty Hunter Pursuit for $30. I know the $10 per set (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) Huh-- the WalMart near me (North Reading, MA) had it for $48.88-- unless we're talking CAD or AUD instead of USD? As for the ship itself, it was ok. Not all that great partwise, but it had some good stuff. At least it looks better scale-wise (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) <<snip>> I guess they have to charge extra to cover the license with Lucas. Here in Sweden the LEGO prices are even higher [1] and I generally refuse to pay more then 0.10$ US per piece. [1] 7163 Republic Gunship is 1299 Skr in Sweden, which (...) (22 years ago, 26-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) Preparing myself (and my girlfriend) for the release of Ep II, I picked up the Gunship last week. The price almost made me weep, but wow does it look good. It is huge, mean and looks extremely purposeful. And it's got heaps of nifty parts! (...) (22 years ago, 29-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)
