True. But then again, where we stand on an issue depends on what
we build; I don't build roofs. I agree wholeheartedly that a complete
slope system--all the parts available in the old red and black sets,
in new colors--is highly desirable and useful.
However, expecting a complete roof system to come out in a single
set that isn't a building is a little unrealistic, yes? Would you
have felt better if it was a light grey gable connector? Or a
dark red one? (Please, LEGO...NO NO NO NO!)

I rather liked your tractor. :) Old McBoba had a farm...S-L-A-V-E-1
...I parted out 16 of 7144 after last Christmas, and they're great
sets (were green med-slope apexes available, they'd be even better).
I kept all of those parts, and built some very pleasant roofs out of
them for Armada stuff, which was dismantled before I came back home
so no pics. :( The *only* real problem I have with TLC brickwise
is the elimination of tubs and buckets. I could deal with sets that
have special pieces and loads of plates, or ordering special elements,
as long as I could get bulk tubs when needed. The fact that we can't
is really, really, REALLY annoying.
But I never bought sets for the brick content, save earth-tones.
"Regular" brick colors were minimal assets to my choices of set
purchase. I think basic bricks are valuable--I couldn't do without
them, that's for sure--but I have little problem with Alpha Team
and the SW lines (although the former are less attractive to me than
the latter).

If you did, they'd be "bumpy." They're slightly rounded, after
all, and you probably couldn't do it with the 2x6 multi-slopes.
However, the "side" is still regular med-slope, and the 1x6 slopes
will fill in the other side. It's not roofing like the med-slope
or low-slope systems, but it's not intended to be. Consider it
like the rounded-end bricks, or like the Droid Fighter piece if it
were available as corners instead of one long bar. (And you can
fill in the ex-low-slope side of those with 6x8 roof bricks, btw.)

Eh, I don't chase any ambulances. I just have a few...haunts.
I can't run around ragged anymore either. By "on sale" I'm thinking
of 20-25% off, not the "preferred discount" (80-85% off).

For the B-wing/A-wing canopy? I don't think you could reach the
geometry of the "new" Jedi Starfighter canopy, I think a 4L extension
"hoop" for the old canopy would be really nice. I had originally
hoped that the Naboo Fighter would be the basis for an entire system
of canopies, but alas...
I see your point about having too many standards and special parts,
because it makes them a devil to keep track of. But I see a lot of
possibility in the new "clamshell system" slopes and canopies. I
may yet jade, of course. :)
