The AT-AT Commanders look the same as the Star Destroyer Officers *except*
that they are wearing a armor breastplate unique to them, and a blast helmet
similar to the one worn by the AT-ST Drivers. Also they carry a loaded
side-arm in a holster at the belt. They are all grey. The Imperial Navy
wears black for enlisted troops (Death Star/Naval Troopers, TIE Pilots,
Gunners, and black uniformed Officers), white is for the Imperial Army
(Stormtroopers, AT-AT Drivers, AT-ST Drivers, and all the Environmental
versions of the Stormies). Elite Officers (like West Point Grads) wear grey
for the Fleet/Ground Operations to set them appart. Moffs, Governors and
Death Star Officers wear a greenish grey (could be more Republic Tradition),
while Grand Admirals wear white (as seen in Episode 4). Royal Imperial
Guard is unique to the red color, dunno why, could be just that the Emperor
fancies men in red cloaks...
Just the facts,
Aaron
