My only source was the Behind the Magic CD-ROM, and they all look a
weathered grey in there.

The models used for filming were gray, the life size model at the Star Wars Celebration AND the one in Disneyland are gray, and every picture I've ever seen of an X-wing is (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)
