The Ubiquitous Half Stud Width Offset (and how to use it)

Another situation where the half-stud offset has gotten me out of a jam
(several times, actually) is in the formation of right-angled triangles with
hinge bricks to make angled panels and wing edges. An example of such an
angled panel is on the side of the UCS X-Wing. In that case the lego
designers chose a fortuitous set of dimensions where all three sides were an
even stud length, but sometimes you need to work with smaller lengths which
don't always work out... which is where the half-stud offset often saves the
day.
