Plates won't actually fit- only tiles seem to have any binding at all. And
the binding is *very* fragile. If there wasn't a flat surface below to keep
the tiles square, they would fall off. I tried round 1x1 plates too,
thinking that I wouldn't have to worry about staying square... alas, they
fall right off.

Note that round 1x1 bricks don't give any leeway- if the stud is oversized,
the brick can't deform to fit it. A square 1x1 might be able to go on there
without damage, as its walls can flex a little. I didn't bother
experimenting further.
