You got it! The angled-down cockpit is for better visibility while in space
battles and there is not drag from an atmosphere. The wings angle down
during space flight as well, and then angle up for for lower speed flight in
atmosphere. It's a bit hard to make out with the pics, but there are 4
vectored thrusters on the belly that give the fighter VTOL capability, hence
the use of the flat landing gear and no wheels. The thrusters angle up and
out of the way when flying in an astmosphere too.
