Very cool! Thats by far the best use Ive seen with the angled cockpit

Hmmm, wait until you see what I did with two of them for a vessel from the Kami
Nation (the blue neutral Sam-Bot faction).

The missile pack is a great addition as well.

That was such an accident of design, and the really cool thing is that it
doesnt look like theres anything inside until you open it up. I believe I did
actually have the entire rest of the design hammered out and built (though some
parts were substituted in different colors at the time) before I even started
thinking about the abdomen, and I was originally thinking in terms of the
bulbous abdomen on the Hasbro Bomarr Monk action figure, but then I realized if
I built it with studs facing both ends, I could use TECHNIC stud-pins as hinge
points for the four end pieces and stuff it full of some sort of missile. I had
to extend the length a bit to pull it off, as I pretty quickly settled on a
3-brick minimum missile height, and then realized Id need to stuff them with
lightsaber blades if I ever hoped to be able to remove them (its still really
tough to pinch one of the missile tips between your fingers and pluck the first
one out, but after that you can just rock them to one side to pop them loose).

The legs certainly do look nicely posable- Id love to see
some shots of this in action with some sort of prey.
|
Ill have to see what I can do with that at the next Motor City Comic-Con.

Whats red and whats orange?
|
The only orange parts are the trans-neon orange parts used for the canopy, the
guns (lightsaber blades and 1x1 cones), sensor pods (Bohrok eyes), and the
lightsaber bar used as a clip mount for the red Ninja flag on top of the cockpit
section. All the other visible parts are red or black. There are four yellow
2x2 corner bricks buried in the bottom of the missile pod, and there are 28
light-grey stud-pins holding various parts together, but none of those are
really visible in any of the photos I posted (you can probably see the flanges
of the hinge pins, but thats it.
|
In the photos, it looks black and orange.
|
Thats a combination of my camera and my little makeshift photo studio (the
camera does much better with colors at shows and such). Basic green parts look
teal, and basic red shifts towards yellow, but its the light-type setting that
produces the most accurate color match (I can never get the green to show up
right, but at the closest setting, basic blue looks tealish, and red almost
looks yellow; and when I get the red to look correct, the background looks
hideous).
|
However, I dont think that the ninja headpiece or the robot body come in
orange. So Im thinking its all red... but what about the canopy? It looks
exactly the same color, and I dont think that comes in trans-red...
|
I dont think it does, but again, its my camera. As soon as I can get DATs for
the Ninja wrap and the red Ninja 2x2 flag, I can post the LDraw model that Ive
cooked up. The only problem there is that the transparent orange color looks
like a better match to the new non-flourescent trans-orange (aka trans-dark
orange) than to the old trans-neon orange (commonly misnamed trans-orange).
