Why does it have a propeller?

To provide thrust to fly.

But, but, there's no air in space for the propeller to work.

Yes, the space modification for the fighter is in the upgrade package. It's a
shield that holds in air so the prop can use it (the air) to fly thru.

".space-spaceships-must-have-wings" fiasco about 2-3 years ago?  There

I was just reading about that last night. How odd.

But really. Not all air vehicles in the SW universe travel in space. The primary
mission of the TriWing is annoyance. You can use it to fly over the enemy camp
at night and disturb eveyones sleep. It's a military tradition after all. It
could also be used as a liason aircraft. Perhaps a basic flight trainer. It
could also be used as a distraction. A couple TIEs whoosh by and have to come
back for a second look. While they are doing that, the X-Wings sneak up and
blast them. It could also be used for medical evacuation. Just strap a man to
each wing and off you go. It would be perfect for an observation aircraft.
Perhaps an arty spotter or forward air controller. It's also a good excuse to
wear a scarf and goggles.

(...) Sorry, But this would be like picking yourself up by holding onto your bootlaces. I'm quite happy with the bubble of air in a shield idea, but there's nothing for the bubble to push against which is what would make the airplane go forward. All (...)
