Hi all,

I'm happy and proud to extend an invitation to everyone in the community to
participate in the First BrickFest MINI MOC Flyin!

What is the Flyin? This is a display that is open to anyone interested in
displaying, regardless of whether or not the person can attend BrickFest PDX.
The theme of this display is Flight, so everyone is encouraged to build a
flight-related model.

There are some rules to observe on this. The most important rule is to build
MINI scale. I chose this size to make it easy for everyone to bring or send a
MOC to the display. Mailing will be relatively inexpensive, and each person will
be responsible for shipping and return postage.

And to those participating, I'll probably have a surprise in your return
package:)

What can a person build? Well, since you asked...

Preflight: Ornithopters, balloons, gliders

Beginnings of Flight: Wright Flyer, Samuel Langley's aerodrome, Goddard's
rockets, dirigibles, etc.

Warbirds: Fighters, bombers, spy planes

Achievements in Flight: Bleroit's plane, Me 262, X-1*

Spaceflight: Spacecraft and probes, such as Vostok and Mercury, Skylab, Space
Shuttle*

This is a very general list, and all that I would ask is that each MOC relate to
flight in a realistic way, as the display will be a timeline for flight from
it's beginnings to the near future. The only exception to te realistic approach
is the near-future MOCs, which are a little freer in design.

*I'll be bringing a Space Shuttle MINI MOC and an X-15 MINI. I know that there
will be an X-1 and a B-17 MINI that are planned to be in the display, but that
doesn't mean that there can't be duplication of planes. There's also plans to
have a Mars Pathfinder present at the display.

If you are interested in being part ofthe flyin, just post your name and the MOC
you'll be contributing. Questions? Drop me a line here! And I'll tell you the
address to send once I get that info!

Hi Joe, I've heard briefly of your request from a prior SEALUG meeting... If you'd like, I could probably send you either a few of my MOCs and perhaps the mock up I did of the box for this a few years ago... www.brickshelf.com/c...i?i=104409 I've a (...) (...) Joe, Does MINI scale mean on the order of the Star Wars Minis that are currently out on the market? Too small for minifigs, but larger than 'microscale'? Or somewhere encompassing both? Are you observing a set relative scale (like 1:144 in (...) (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
