Hi everybody,
Scibrick was announced a while back and I think a lot of people were left
scratching thier heads. Perhaps youve heard rumors of what were about.
Perhaps you want to know more information.
If we have appeared aloof, it is because the details of the organization are
still being worked out by a group of founders.
In time we will start working out membership. For now, I will tell you that our
mission is to:
1. Stimulate interest and building in the science fiction genre. So far, this
includes what lugnet would classically refer to as space and mecha.
However, who knows what the future holds? Let us know what you think in the
scibrick discussion area of lugnet.
2. To publicly display creations in the science fiction genre. Public display
will be the core of what scibrick is about. How and when we go about that is
still being determined. Will we be another organization like ILTCO? Will we be
something different? Let us know your opinion. Lets talk about it.
3. To act as a communications medium between the lego company and other
organizations, for science fiction building fans. So what does that mean?
Lets say a comic book convention is coming up in Ohio. That would be a great
opportunity to display science fiction creations. Perhaps we can help. We can
try to help generate interest, publicize the event, and communicate with the
lego company on your behalf. The lines of communication have been opened and
look promising. But remember, the key is public display in venues where a lot
of people will see you.
The founders will emerge with time to discuss what role they play. For now, you
can look to me as Communications Officer. My role is to communicate and act as a
chairman of the board, in a manner of speaking; let me know what you think.
What are your ideas? What are your questions?

| Felix, Scibrick, I feel, should be a group devoted to furthering the use of LEGO as an artistic media in the science-fiction genre. A very 'fluffy' sentence, so I'll explain: SB should be an independent group that is capable of presenting displays (...) (21 years ago, 12-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.scibrick, FTX)
