  Re: Spice Harvester

Wow! That is so original. I love the effect of that big 'hump.' The claws are great, and the treads look cool. Mmmm, wish I had some. The only thing I don't like is the small smattering of other colors. I think if it was kept to just gray and black, (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Thanks! (...) I rather like the Yellow and tan, gives it an industrial sort of look. PITSCO will sell you 36-link packs of treads for $7.50 US, pricey but worthwhile. (...) Not one of my own making. Go read Dune! I promise you'll be rotten (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

Hey Soren, Very cool! It has a very insect-like feel which is very appropriate. I can't count the number times I've reread, with relish, that book. I've even read all the following ones. Now if TLG would really start cranking out the tan and sand (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

Interesting. The technic tread-links, really make the model, IMO. It wouldn't look as massive without that. Cool use of the saucer dishes also. -Stefan- (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Thank you! The saucer bit was inspired by Mark Sandlin's Neverwhere. Take care, Soren (22 years ago, 13-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Yeah, we really need sand-color and tan plate bulk packs. I'm looking to build an ornithopter next, and I'd love to have your input. Take care, Soren (22 years ago, 13-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Ah, shucks. I have to say, it's probably my single most popular creation amongst the .space crowd. Well, either it or the Spiffcraft. It's hard to say. :) I like it. The claws and treads look purposeful. ~Grand Admiral (22 years ago, 13-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

This is a lot of fun, Soren. As a big Dune fan, I love when folks give their renditions of the vessels. Some take the heavy industrial look as used in the current HBO/SciFi Channel, while others take what I like to term the Art Deco-tech (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

Having seen this thing in the brick, I can honestly say that it is awesome. The claws run the risk of setting a new standard. The feature I was most impressed with though, was the sort of working suspension reminiscent of the uranium search vehicle (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Which was in turn copied from my absolute favorite Classic Space set, the Mobile Rocket Transport <set:6950>. That being said, it's a very nifty design, and I love the use of minifig hands on the claws. It looks sort of like a giant roving (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Thank you! I love it when you give feedback. I've always thought of Dune machinery as having a very different set of design standards, more artistic than functional. (...) Not much right now. I'm still tossing concepts around in my head. I (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Thank you! I'm thinking of building more stuff with those claws. (...) That was probably the most fun to build. I should post a picture of the suspension in action. (...) I'm honored. Take care, Soren (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Spice Harvester

(...) Which in turn reminds me that I need to build something with rotating rear tracks (Maybe PCS... hmmm...) (...) Thank you! I just fell in love with the claws, they were just too odd not to stick on the front. (...) At least it's not a friggin' (...) (22 years ago, 14-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)
