I am not so certain that we ever will, nor whether we need to, come to a
consensus on this subject.  In the real world, different nations have
different definitions of things like "Capitol Ship", "Battleship", etc.  I
think in our own fictional worlds things could be equally diverse.  What one
person calls a spaceship may not match what another person calls a spaceship.

I realize that I wasn't clear, but my hope and desire was not to supplant
people's definitions of words like "cruiser" and "battleship."

What I thought we (as a community) could use was terms for LEGO creations,
alongside SHIP.  Terms to be used when conversing with other members of the
community (eg. hey check out my SHIP.. whadya think?) - not terms used within a
fantasy world.

"SHIP" means a space creation longer than 100 studss (or so).

What about creations smaller than this?
Or do you think any LEGO-Lugnet term is un-needed?

eg. I have a spaceship 64 studs long.  Not quite a SHIP, but still something
kinda big.  What do I call it that would give the sense of something big, but
not be SHIP?

It seems to me that there are four basic length types, small (less than 20
studs), medium (20-50 studs), large (50-90 studs), and super-sized (aka a SHIP,
100+).

but i suppose this is all silly-ness on my part.
ho-hum

In my world, the people of the planet Valyance have their own views on space
faring vessels.  These definitions are based on the function of the vehicle
more so than the size.

*Some* of the definitions I use:

(...) Ah, yes, I see. Well, we did kick around a few humorous acronyms for smaller vessels in responses to a thread here: (URL) these did not define anything in brick terms. (...) I think these things are fun, though I don't know how much they will (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jan-03, to lugnet.space)
