I LOVE your new "snub" fighters with their little docking module. That is a
very elegant solution for a destoyer-size capital ship that doesn't have the
luxury of a landing bay.

One technical concern: It appears that the whole module serves as an
airlock. What happens if a single fighter returns and the pilot needs to get
out of his ship? How do medical personnel get to him if the bay is
sealed? Does everyone wear a pressure suit in that case? If so, do you
plan to have small airlocks at the entrance to the bay? I don't know how
many of those (whaddaya call 'em?) 4x5 hinge-plates you have, but a
single plate mounted on the inside of the bay at each pod entry would
solve this little dilemma. This would also allow maintenance crew and
other folk to walk through the docking module while the fighters are away.

I know, I know... I'm being anal retentive. You should see the contortions I
go through when working on my own ship... which, incidentally, has its
own "wave motion" type gun... but unfortunately, no snub fighters to save
it. Guess I'll have to rely on turrets and missiles.

I'll post pics of my own ship when I'm finished... which should be in a
couple weeks. I have used the light-cable unit from the 6979 UFO set in
my main reactor room.  :^)

For now, I'll leave this for all you Wave Motion fans:

I know it's on the IGN for Men site, but empowered LUGNET women can
feel free to view it as well.  ;^)

Hi everyone,

Well, I finally have a mini-page up for _Suffren_.  It contains much
backstory, so page down to the bottom half if you need either the links
for the old command module shots or the thumbnails/image links to the
"new stuff" and don't want to wade.  In the future I'll break it up into
a page-tree, but for now this is how it works for me.  (Oh, yeah, I'm
lazy too.)

What I've added:

-Pictures of the two competing fighter designs and a little bit of quick
and dirty backstory on them;
-Backstory on _Suffren_'s own design and construction;
-Pictures of the (mostly-completed) fighter module, which will be
mounted ventrally on the finished ship; it launches two of the nifty
little one-man AMX fighters I designed from each side.  The finished
ship will (God willing) have two such modules, one abaft the other, and
connected by docking rings.

In the future I'll add photos of other modules, pictures of the revised
command module (I rebuilt it so the front panel comes off for access to
the bridge, put a conspicuous tricolour on the upper hull, added
anti-fighter light weapons around the module, and installed the FuCon
main armament), and perhaps even a few shots of our bridge crew. • And,
of course, when the ship's ready for launch, _Suffren_ will appear in
all her assembled glory.

The address, of course:

Enjoy--comments, suggestions, un-stale bagels, poodle dogs, orange
sweatsocks, and "Have a Nuclear Day" buttons are welcomed.

best,

Lindsay

PS:  I hope Pat will forgive me for citing/linking his
brand-spankin'-new fighter as a "nightmare" for my growing destroyer.

(...) Hey, thanks! I like the fighters too; they came out nicely. Unfortunately the engines don't like to stay on as tightly as they should (grumble). Ah well, they do *look* nice. (...)
