Welcome to the fray, William!

Thanks! I prefer Will though - probably filled in the wrong thing
in the wrong box on the form...

A question about the interior hatch:  Is it one piece or two that intermesh?

I assume you mean the hatch between the cabin and the bridge?

The front wall of the ship is a double skin with a one brick thick space
in between. The door slides in this space - it's simply built up from
layers of bricks and plates with those L-shaped cockpit side pieces to
make the depressions. The door slides as one piece, with a long arm
extended out to left side which ends in a navigation light. It looks
a bit odd when the hatch is open...

The frame is just built up around this from yellow bits. Part of the
reason for the bulge on the right by the cockpit is to conceal all the
yellow, because I didn't want to see any grey inside or yellow outside.
I made life harder for myself by adding the sticking-out 'bolts' on
the right of the door. It was an afterthought and I had to do a bit of
rebuilding to give them corresponding slots to slide into, but I think
they look cool.

I imagine with your posts you can likely consider youself de-lurked to the
denizens of .space (so to speak):>

Excellent.

Cheers,

Will

(...) Indeed that is the hatch. The 1x2 cockpit panels are a great idea...give some definition from the wall rather than a solid slab. I can see now how the teeth are all part of the same unit and lock into the wall. Excellent design...thanks for (...) (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.space)

Welcome to the fray, William! As Jon was saying, this is really a beauty you have on your hands here. I think one of the nicest touches is the interior detailing right inside the hatch. The rails and the valve (steering) wheels in matching tone (...) (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.space)
