Nice ship. Is that a cockpit mounted below the main deck?

Yep.  The main crew area is below the main hold, with the engineering area
ab the back (in front of the engines and between the escape pod and access
port on either side of the ship).  There is a small maneuvering cockpit up
above the main hold as you can see with the curved canopy.  The small tower
that is on top of the ship is accessable from the the main body of the ship
- the very top opens (well...'openned' since this ship was torn apart a
month ago) to reveal sub systems access.

And the main truss (red and white checkers) that holds the removable modules
is also removable, along with the guidance collar at the very front of the
ship.  Several trusses can be attached, next to each other or stacked on in
front of the other.  The design was to be universal.  The main hold area at
the midpoint of the ship was for special goods.

Unfortunatly I never took any pictures of the inside of the ship.  Oh well.
