All right, since Hop-Frog cast the gauntlet, I got off my bum and took
photos of my entry. It's been sitting on the shelf for about 2 weeks. :^P

Anyway, here it is: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=8659

-------------------

The Blacktron "Obsidian" Mobile Cannon

One of the lesser seen weapons in the Blacktron arsenal is the
"Obsidian" Mobile Cannon. The cannon is equipped with one of the highly
secret Blacktronium Reactors (the dome on top) which it uses to power
the three engines, as well as the main cannon and the Mass Shadow
Projectors (MSP) (Yellow cylinders on the forward surface of engines)

In typical tactical situations, the Obsidian will wait alongside a
common hyperspace route, where it will use the MSPs to project a false
planet shadow into the hyperspace lane. This will cause the computers on
the traveling vessel to drop the vessel out of hyperspace. The Obsidian
will then use its main cannon to fire a high power ion blast, disabling
the vehicle. Blacktron Invaders and Renegades move in, taking prisoners
and pirating goods. Often, the vehicles themselves are salvaged and the
parts used in other Blacktron vehicles.

All righty, there it is. :^)

Enjoy.

Very nice Mark! I really like that cannon. The light-up engines are cool too. Overall, the ship has a great shape; sleek and mean looking. (...) (23 years ago, 1-Dec-01, to lugnet.space)

That is so cool! It has such a smooth shape to it, all of the lines flow right across the entire ship, very cool! The engines are really well done too, I like the detail in the front of the engines, The lights in the engines and on top are really (...) (23 years ago, 1-Dec-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) Great stuff Mark, She's a beautiful shape, and would make an excellent capship is sized up a bit. It's a fun challenge to work lights into a model, I'm doing it to my latest ship. Once again, great work, excellent detail. Keep on building, Zac (...) (23 years ago, 1-Dec-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) Magnificent work, Mark, as always. I've got to agree with the majority that your effort at incorporating lights has really borne fruit--that ship really exploits the effect of lighting well (and it helps, IMHO, to offset the "black hole" (...) (23 years ago, 1-Dec-01, to lugnet.space)

That's cool dude! I too once thought of making space based weapons that weren't ships, but alas, I was lazy. =) (Though I did make a cheapo orbital missile launcher.) Good job, and don't destroy any of our fleets with it, use your powers for good! (...) (23 years ago, 2-Dec-01, to lugnet.space)

What category would you like this under? Oh, and if you want to summarize your description to 30 words, that would help too. ;) ~ Tom Mark Sandlin <sandlin@nwlink.com> wrote in message news:sandlin-09E793....net.com... (...) (23 years ago, 9-Dec-01, to lugnet.space)
