Yes, it is a resister, connected in parallel with the switch, so you can read the resistance value when the switch is not pressed. See (URL) for more (...) Forgive me if I've missed this here before, I've recently acquired a Scout system and have been reading the SDK PDF and found the following: "The Scout has two external input ports to which touch sensors can be attached. (...) Believe it or not, the LEGO Mindstorms web site has a lot of great info about both the Scout and the RCX. Go to the Mindstorms site at (URL) and follow the links to the Scout SDK.
