From my experience, what you are describing is normal behavior for the current version of pbForth. Mr. Hempel has done an excellent job of creating a version of Forth to work with the RCX, but the work is far from complete. If you look at the (...) Dick, 2 questions: 1) Regarding the benchmark code used for performance analysis. How about something which will require intense sensor feedback? How about simple alignment code? Interesting idea. The idea of a pullback car is that you provide the energy, and store it in a spring. How about a "real" pullback car that works like this: The drive motor would be used as a generator during pullback, to charge a capacitor. You (...) I was torn between 'float' and 'brake' when implementing the remote control handler. I eventually opted for 'brake' since that is how the Lego RCX firmware does it. With regard to the strange motor behavior. I too noticed this while debugging the (...) (22 years ago, 16-May-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

I agree that there are much faster charging methods, but the slow one has the advantage of simplicity (this was implied in the original question)... I have seen some systems that have RAM set up this way: The first area is for the system, the second area is user programs and is allocated from the bottom up. I have daydreamed about the concept of 'mapping' a room using the datalog. The general idea would be to use the rotation sensor to measure out a room in 20 X 20 cm sections and log a 'zero' for clear sections and a 'one' for obsructed sections. I (...) This is still used and useful, as it saves only the required registers, unlike the HANDLER_WRAPPER macro, which saves all volatile registers. (...) (...)
