     Dave, If you can still lay your hands on it, get the Technic Space Shuttle. I know it's an older set, but I still see them in shops occasionally (in the Netherlands). Price is around US$ 120. It comes with lots of gears, beams, plates, axles, parts (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

    (...) I faced a similar problem at the beginning of this year. If you want the most pieces for your money as a single kit, I'd recommend set 9609, the Technology Resource Set.    I would like to thank Arjen, Hari, and Mark for there help. The advice given was informative and useful I really appreciate it :) I am placing an order for a space shuttle and am looking into obtaining a technology resource kit as per your advice. (...)
