  Thanks to All!

I really appreciate all of the great feedback. I've figured out which way I'm going so I'll probably have more specific programming questions in the near future. Luckily for me, I've found an excellent forum for intellectual exchange. Thanks again, (...) (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: RCX 1.0 availablilty

(...) Cost. Plain and simple. (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: RCX 1.0 availablilty

(...) Sounds like I may need to make a run on RCX units if I want some for use with train layouts etc where I want them running on wall power rather than battery power. Any idea why TLG has removed the power jack? (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Interests in non-GNU C compiler for RIS?

Well, what I think (hope!) Richard means is... well... to start from scratch: The subsumption architecture is a way of thinking about programming robots. The idea is that you program lots of very small, simple modules that take simple inputs and (...) (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  RCX 1.0 availablilty

This is a message I posted on RTL: Here is what I have observed so far: The RCX's in the plain 1.0 boxes all have power jacks. The RCX's in the 1.0 boxes with 1.5 upgrade stickers also have the jacks The RCX's in the 1.5 boxes do not have power (...) (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  RE: fast firmware downloader

(...) Count me in. I'm ditching the Tcl interface - it's just too damn goofy! A standard firmware downloader would be great - especially if it ran on all platforms. As far As I know, Dave Baum is the only guy here who has got a downloader for the (...) (27 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  Re: fast firmware downloader

(...) If there's interest in a stand-alone firmware downloader running on the Mac, please let me know. I can certainly add the approriate quad-speed stuff into NQC, and can also make a stand-alone version if Mac users are using pbFORTH or something (...)   Re: Interests in non-GNU C compiler for RIS?

(...) Ahah! Now *that* is interesting to me. Obviously (as the legOS HOWTO maintainer), a gcc replacement doesn't really interest me, unless you have a reliable solaris->h8300 cross-compiler, in which case maybe we can talk :) However, I think I (as (...) (...) native H8 machine code, and that doesn't require a huge investment in time and disk space to install and configure. As I see it, there are already many development systems out there for free that are this simple to install and use, as long as (...) (27 years ago, 26-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: A few questions on NQC vs. VB

(...) Hi, Don't miss the opportunity to learn Forth! It's unique environment, it's just another world. :) Here is a history of Forth: (URL) Sergey Udovenko (27 years ago, 26-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
