Oh ya, and I used one in the Neck of the Hexapod-armature. So when the neck moved all the way to the Right or Left, the slip gear kicked in and it would'nt break it's own neck. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) Actually it rotates separately only above a certain torque (if you don't know what torque is, think force), that's the 2.5 - 5.0 Ncm mentioned on the inscription. You can use it to prevent damage to your model when your gear train is stalled. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Nano Centemeter of force. In (...) (25 years ago, 3-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

I think it is called a "clutch" gear. It is used in place of a regular gear when the gear train that it is in may get locked up. It will then slip, which will prevent damage to the motor. I imagine it has other uses too... -HTH -Andy Lynch ----- (...) (25 years ago, 3-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
