Mike,

Sense I don't have the proper cable configuration yet I haven't tried
loading your program yet. I will and tell you the results of how it does
on my PalmIIIx running OS3.3.

As you know, I've been tinkering with a Palm remote program also. I have
not programmed on the Palm before so I will be putting that project on
the back burner and spend the time learning more about Palm programming.
Your program looks to be going in the right direction so I will be happy
to assist you in testing and offering suggestions.

I believe that a limited RCX programming interface in your program would
be very useful. A system like the Scout would be neat but I could see
that a simple statement block stack system, like the one that comes with
the RIS, could have inputs that would be quick enough to be usable on
the Palm. Here is a quick idea:

1. One screen could have a list of all the program blocks. Such as ON,
WAIT, BEEP, REVERSE, etc. Taping on a block adds to a database of chosen
blocks. A button would open a screen of blocks selected.

2. On the screen of selected blocks, each block could be tapped that
would show the options to be set for that block such as "ON []A []B
[]C".
buttons or menu items for this screen could include LOAD, SAVE, and
DOWNLOAD.

I think that this would be quick for the user to tap in a program with
the only manual input being a few numbers.

With me being a webmaster I make my living designing user interfaces. If
you are interested, even if this is something you my not undertake for
awhile, I would be glad to develop this idea more and share it with you.

Robert, sorry to hear the IR thing didn't work out. Many of us were looking forward to seeing that work. Your offer for the interface sounds great. I wouldn't be getting to it real soon, but if you set up a web page with your ideas, members of this (...) (25 years ago, 8-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.palm)

Well, I've now had reports from users with Palm III's and Palm Pros that haven't any problems. So, if you're willing--the more people that try it, the better. I have a Palm Pro and haven't had any trouble of course. You can install the program (...) (25 years ago, 7-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.palm)
