 | | New Palm IR Software to remote control your RCX
|
|
Just thought people might like to know I have developed a piece of Palm Software called Robotic Mover which allows you to remotely control your RCX. Unlike the other available software, This does actually use the built in infrared port of the Palm (...) (25 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics.palm)

(...) Oops! I must have mistook the 'wireless' word and imagined the IR part... It connects to the BUS port on the bottom. Rather interesting really. Seems it's a 1.3~ mhz serial bus. (...) That's a shame. Being this late in the game I would expect to see USB support and an expansion slot of some kind. (...) The keyboard is said to be IR linked. (...) Ah so I'm assuming it's not enough power to power a IR tower if need be? They (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.palm)

(...) [Cross posted to lugnet.robotics.palm] For the Agenda VR3d (Developer/Tech version) it's only $179 USD. That's an incredible price for what you get. Even If I had to create one of them little serial IR devices that someone mentioned being able (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.palm)

(...) Use the MindStorms remote or the direct commands from NQC to train OmniRemote. I think the "test panel" with the included software may work as well. Robert Eddings (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics.palm)

I was reading about these yesterday. They appear to have a serial port: (URL) anyone who understands these things able to get it to interact with our friend the RCX? It means nothing to me, but it appears they will run JAVA in some form. Scott A (25 years ago, 11-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.palm, lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc, lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

However, after reading your post, and a good deal of the other 56 messages in this group, it appears this is not the case. I already have a LEGO remote, so that (...) The short answer is it doesn't really matter.....'cause none of the Palm or Handspring units really work directly with the RCX. If there is a Holy Grail to this robotics/Palm group, it would be the successful programming of the Palm IrDA port to (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.palm, lugnet.robotics)
