Does anyone know if NiMH batteries suffer from the memory effect?

When I bought a mobile phone (or cellular if you like), the sales guy said
that the
NiMH didn't suffer from the memory effect like NiCad batteries do. But that
was from a sales person - not necessarily reliabe info!

cheers
chris

(...) NiMh batteries do not have a memory but they do discharge faster when sitting unplugged. In my Thinkpad 750 (for which I have one NiCd and two NiMh batteries) the NiCd looses < 5% of its charge overnight and the NiMh batteries loose around 15% (...)
