More and more people are building walker robots each week. These web
sites can help you become one of them soon.
Steven Bolt just posted a note about his "Spider" robot on the BEAM list.
His web site shows the eight-leg robot and includes construction
details. It also has performance data, parts supplier information, and
close-up photos. Including the controller and freight charges, you can
build the robot for under $50.
For the non-BEAMERs, here is the start of his write-up:

After the "Walker Invasion" post, Kevin Krauel
(kbkrauel@kingcong.uwaterloo.ca) persuaded me to look at this site:
Microprocessor Controlled Autonomous Modular Walking Vehicle
http://real.uwaterloo.ca:80/~robot/
The home page, interestingly, mentions BEAM robotics and says the NASA
Space Telerobotics program likes this site. In fact, it boasts "Cool
Robot Site of the Week" status now. The developers should receive credit
for putting their final report online. It's in HTML format and includes
software, schematics, and CAD drawings. This type of information makes
the Web useful for all researchers.
