Dear Luc,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the Expansion Board. (Other
users out there---what's going on?) To answer some of your questions:

- Can't get the MAX662. more than 20 weeks to wait at digikey. anyone knows
another source? thx.

you can try requesting a sample from maxim directly. They even let you
do it from their web site:

  http://www.maxim-ic.com/index.html

- I feel like the power diodes are too close on the PCB. There is also a risk

of short circuit when you put the LCD back above.

Yes. Do you have a suggestion for how to fix this? There isn't much
space. I'm not sure what to do.

- I think that there should be DIP sockets for all the ICs in the part list.
When using sockets make sure to solder U3 BEFORE SW1.

Yes, the IC's should have sockets.

- Where can one buy the polaroid sensor?

I wish there was one or 2 more 374 latching the databus. I feel like the
handy board is short of digital outputs.

Yes, it is a choice of inputs or outputs given the amount of space on
the expansion board. So, you would prefer that I provide one fewer
input chip and replace it with an output chip?

I built 2 of those. I continue to applaud everyone involved with this project . It is awesome. I know have 3 Handy boards and am teaching programming and robotics to my kids, i love it. I am also using it to control a 5DF motion controlled camera. (...) (29 years ago, 13-Mar-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
