After not doing anything with my HB for a few months, I decided to buy a cheap RC car and use it as a platform. Anyway, I get a car that takes 6 AA batteries because I figure that the main motor is probably 9v (maybe that was a faulty assumption). (...) (27 years ago, 9-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) We used the line of "S1" optical encoders from US Digital Corp. ((URL) and found them to work superbly. The encoders are light (~.07 lb) and small (~1.7" x 1.3"). I recently opened up a mouse (the computer kind, not the live kind) and found what I assume to be 2 IR shaft encoders which it uses to translate the direction you are moving the mouse. Is there a way that I could remove them and turn them into shaft (...) (27 years ago, 7-Nov-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

What is "ORG"? Does it matter what number you use? Is the number a memory location?
