  Re: IR wall detection

(...) Could you tell me the cost & range for these? (...) Could you trigger them in an interleave-like sequence? Seems that would reduce interference to just about zero. If you number 1-2-3 starting at zero degrees and going clockwise, you could set (...) (28 years ago, 14-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR wall detection

I have recenty perfected a simple sensor using the Sharp IR detector but I need some help in interfacing it. I plan on having about 16 sensors all around the perimiter of the robot but I don't want to have them running all at the same time because (...)   Re: HB Downloader Trouble

Success on the first bootstrap download and failure to write into RAM could easily be explained by a fault in the memory circuit. The memory circuit, which includes the 'hc373, the 'hc132, and the RAM chip itself, with about 27 signals going to the (...) (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HB Downloader Trouble

(...) I too have this problem. I originally thought it was the RS232 converted, but I have since replaced this part and still get the downloading error (using HBDL and DLM). I can't find any physical defects with the board (solder bridges, cold (...) (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Address marking on th SCI

I'd like to address two devices (one a handyboard) over the same serial line. I can use the address mark wake up method described int the pink book. Is this compatable with IC, or do I need to write my interface in assembly? -Jodi Graf (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Interactive C

hola, What are the main differences between IC Ver 2.81 and IC Ver 3.1? I know that you have to purchase 3.1, but 2.81 is freely distributed. What features does 3.1 have that 2.81 doesn't??? thanx, James Montgomery MIT '98 jmm@mit.edu (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  reading analog port in asm

Hello, I need to write to a digital port and read from an analog port. This has to be done in assembly (to make it fast). I tried but I cannot make this work. I am sure this has been programmed befor, so can somebody help me out and send me the (...) (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Mobile Robotics book

That Mobile Robotics book is also available from amazon.com books... Go to their web page, and search for books by Anita Flynn. It's about $40. (Expensive!!) ---...--- Jeff Keyzer jkeyzer@ucsd.edu UCSD Aerial Robotics Team (URL) (28 years ago, 12-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Poloroid interface

(...) I don't have the schematics with me. If I remember right (James correct me if I am wrong!) we are talking two different inputs. The 5V INIT is just the trigger signal from Handyboard, but the 5Vdc POWER for the transmitter components comes on (...) (28 years ago, 12-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  NiMH batteries

Has anyone tried to use NiMH batteries with the HB? Are they good enough for motors? Do they have the "memory effect" like NiCd's? (28 years ago, 12-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Poloroid interface

(...) I'm currious. How would one go about connecting the "external" battery to the Ranger. For a 5V "high" to be seen by the INIT input, you would have to have a closed loop, right? (28 years ago, 12-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Poloroid interface

(...) I found a number of good files here. We do need to sort them out though. We had a mish-mash of either incompletes or code for other boards. It looks like we'll be able to get it sorted out. By the way, we kept thinking IR sensors were cheapo, (...) (28 years ago, 12-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Poloroid interface

You can interface the Ranger to the HB directly without any problem. Look at the software contributions on the HB home Page undre ther directory of 'kent'. Here you will find the IC aND assembler programs that will allow you to do this. You will (...) (28 years ago, 11-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Poloroid interface

I'm forwarding this to our team member that has most of the documentation at the moment. We tested our Polaroids with an O-scope, we have some code we found that has handyboard send out and receive a ping, and a lot of the available HB docs. So we (...)   source of Sharp IR detectors

I am looking to buy from 10 to 15 Sharp IR detector modules and I need to find a CHEAP supplier. Any suggestions? Keith Soldavin kas219@email.psu.edu (28 years ago, 11-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
