Here's the details of the transaction which I did to get my RIS 1.5 upgrade
for a $3.95 postage and handling fee. I bought the RIS 1.0 at TRU in late
August 1999; no 1.5 upgrade sticker on the box. First, I contacted LEGO
through the
Mindstorms site Tech support, as shown in "My original message" below.
Following
Mindstroms Tech Support reply instructions, I called the Consumer Affairs
800 number and they transferred me to Shop@Home to place the upgrade order.
The S@H rep
asked if my box had the 1.5 upgrade sticker on it and I said no. That
apparently was not a problem; she continued to process the order. She had
finished the order and gave me my total, $3,95, before a added another $60
of other "gotta haves" , so a bigger order was also not a factor. Both
Consumer Affairs and S@H were extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with on
the phone.
Hope this helps in your quest. Maybe I just got lucky . If the rules have
changed since my
transaction, I'm keeping mine. The 1.5 upgrade is a great deal. Makes
those old 1.0's on the shelf even more valuable.

Description:
I purchased the RIS 1.0 in August and understood from this web sites
information that ver 1.5 software upgrade would be availble without charge
for such recent purchasers. How do I order such an upgrade?
Thanks for the help.

| Hi! I got a RIS 1.0 in October. I called up Lego Consumer affairs to ask for an update kit for $3.95. They said it is only possible if I had bought from S@H. They also say that it is available to only those lego RIS which have a sticker on the box. (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)
