I want to power my Rcx and robot with solar power. Edmunds Scientific lists a
dozen or so solar panels, all with different voltage and current. What is the
approprioate voltage and current the Rcx would need, with 2-4 motors and 2-3
sensors? I assume 9 volts is correct, but would 12 volts be too many? What
about amps?
Any help appreciated.

BTW, here is the link to the Solar Power section in Edmunds on-line catalog:

| I've heard of people using a k'nex solar panel to power the RCX, not sure what elese. The voltage is the same as it would be for an adapter you plug into the wall, 9-12 volts, AC or DC, and any amperage. Lego designed the RCX to be kid proof! (...) (...) | (...) plug (...) RCX (...) -Lego will also get kind of snippy if you use a non-approved power source, burn out the RCX, and try to get them to replace it. They're good folk, but RCXes are expensive, and the warranty is fairly clear. -JW Jonathan (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)
