I like a lot your idea of a "phisical" program stored on a 2 x n plate. You
could use one sensor eg on the left side as a sort of "clock" mechanism which
marks your steps. Doing so you very precisely know when to read the right
sensor which is the actual code reader. If you use round bricks for the clock
sensor you may stop the program movement when the clock sensor closes. On the

Try an escarpment for your clocking (hint) since it's fully mechanical.

Jim, a nice suggestion. I love the escapement mechanism. But can't see how
this would make us to save a sensor: we still need to know WHEN it's time to
read the code sensor, I mean when the escapement is in one of its two terminal
positions.

I've always wished Lego made flat plates that were circular with holes so
one could make peg gears. Then it would be possible to build all sorts of
midieval mechanisms (Viva DaVinci!).

I totally agree with you (including "viva Da Vinci" :). Wouldn't it be great
to actually set up some of his projects?

Mario
