In the UK there is a very good reason why books with CD's are undesirable:
Books are zero Value-Added-Tax rated, but books with CD's are not, so cost
the consumer 17.5% more on top of whatever price premium the publisher
places on the addition of a CD.

| (...) Funny law, never heard of anything like that, but then it really makes sense that you prefer books without CDs. BTW: here in France books fall under the regular Value Added Tax of about 20% and this is regardless of CDs or other niceties :-( (26 years ago, 23-Feb-99, to lugnet.robotics)
