Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

(...) Interesting. I wonder how what you know about programming languages affects how you think about them. For example, if you don't know about variables, maybe you develop an intuition for what sorts of methods help you work around them, or maybe (...) (26 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

(...) Hmmm.... this reminds me of when I first learned programming in Scheme. The recursive nature of the language really got a hold of me and made me think of solving programming problems in ways I never thought of before. The problems would have (...)   Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

Hi fellow Lego fans and coders- I joined this list yesterday, apparently at the very tail end of a discussion about the nature/subject of this list vs. the nature/subject of another list. I am a lifelong Lego fan, but I'm also a CS major and Linux (...) (26 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

Hi Luis, You've found the right list. Welcome. In addition to the web page for this list, (URL) check out: (3 URLs) is no FAQ, although a few days ago were were discussing the outline. Since there is no FAQ, frequently-asked questions to the list (...) (26 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

(...) This is sort of off topic, because I don't have too much experience in programming, but I've noticed a similar phenomenon with language... I can remember a time when I didn't speak Japanese, for instance, but I *can't* remember what it was (...) (26 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

(...) I remember the difficulty I had in understanding variables.. 7th grade, about 1978/79, using a TRS-80 (graphics? cool pictures? huh?). The mathlab teacher wanted me to write a program to loop and calculate 1+2+3+4+5+6+... and I happily created (...) (26 years ago, 8-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)
