The Technic design school is interesting to me - I really hope they expand it. I
never ran across the fact that studless designs were easier to align with some
pegs on both beams (pg 5 of the "Technic 101" course),

hmm.  I do think the design school is very cool.

However, I DO NOT agree with the design tip saying beams are easier to align
with pins in both sides.  I always try to put them on the same beam.

But, what do I know?

Steve

(...) I thought the whole idea of the design school (found that exact link a couple of weeks ago) is definitely something LEGO should expand on (and the MDPs, hmmm, yet another thing I would like to do if given the opportunity since my building (...) (19 years ago, 1-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I was thinking the same thing when I read it. I find it much easier to get things put together with all the pins on one side. And I only know half of what Steve does. Bryan (19 years ago, 1-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Agreed. (...) Ditto here too in all normal circumstances. But when comparing the two examples, I can see where the second one might be tougher. With the alternating peg strategy, a person should be able to put the beams together in a zipper (...) (19 years ago, 1-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I don't agree either! To the point that when I temporary unmount two beams connected with several pins (and pins remain attached randomly on one beam or the other), I generally end up placing all pins on the same side to reassemble beams... (...) (19 years ago, 1-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Mistake on the web site. Someone reversed the pictures. It will be corrected. (we are right, putting the pins on one side actually is easier) Steve (19 years ago, 2-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics)

OK, while we're all waiting for word on the MDP (one way or another), I was cruising the web, hoping for news... and found this: (URL) seems there's a number of NXT blogs springing up and linking up, and they've ferreted out some interesting (...) (19 years ago, 1-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics)
