| | I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever tried to use a robot to count studs EG on a baseplate in order to make precise, stud-sized movements, for example, when making a pattern out of bricks or plates. | | | | (...) I've used gear racks for this purpose. 2.5 gear rack teeth = 1 stud. Combine with a gear and a rotation sensor and away you go. (19 years ago, 12-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | | (...) If you are moving slow enough, one possibility is using black friction pegs on a technic beam, say, one every other hole, and a touch sensor that moves by them counting them. | | | | (...) Yes. The rotation sensor does occasionaly mess up at low rotation speeds, but this issue can be overcome by gearing up the actual rotation to higher speeds, and then dividing it back down in software. Kev (19 years ago, 12-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics)
