run on my Windows XP desktop.  When I try to download firmware to the RCX the
computer hangs and must be manually shut off with the power switch (CTRL-ALT-DEL
has no effect).  I downloaded the patch from the Lego Mindstorms website for
running under XP, and the problem persists.  I tried downloading the BricxCC
software, but I have had the same problem with that…the computer hangs at the
same point.  Does anyone have any experience or suggestions to get the software
to work on an XP computer?  Thanks so much!

The problem has to do with Hyperthreading on new systems. You can find info
about the problem in these forums by searching for USB. Here are a couple of
posts about the problem, the second is a fix. Good luck.
