Actually, it is a USB cable and the communication at the Spybot-end is done via
light signals. It looks a little like the computer and Spybot talk morse with
blinking lights instead of sounds.

But even with it being 'just that', you still have plenty of possibilities.
there are several 'zones' around the spybot and if you place lightsources there,
you can have the spybot react differently to these. (like if the light is to the
left, the Spybot will turn around, if the light is to the right and far away,
the Spybot will speed straight ahead and play a sound).
But the most fun can be had when you place two Spybots in one room. And if you
program them differently, it is always a surprise what will happen. The Spybots
will react to each others presence..

| (...) Cool. I didn't know they made them with USB, also. The three I have all use serial cables. The "blinking lights" is the VLL (visible light link), which could be used by other devices to communicate with the Spybot. And, I agree, they are more (...) (21 years ago, 23-Apr-04, to lugnet.robotics)
