The EOPD sensors I used are the same as IRPDs, except they use red LEDs
instead of infra-red LEDs.
I was using some proto-types, but I'm told they will be available from their
web site on November 1st

At your URL you discuse the use of 2 Electro-Optical Proximity Detectors
from HiTechnic Sensors. However, I can not find these devices at their
site. Are you refering to their Infrared Proximity Sensors?
