Thanks for asking this question. I've been meaning to do so myself. One of the
books shows a modified RCX using a 9.6v RC battery pack. Another (or possibly
the same one) talks about someone who increased the voltage of rechargables
by using 5 AA, 1 2/3AA and 1 1/3AA (at least I think that's the right
combination), which results in 9.6V, but for a shorter time. Does anyone have
any comments on these options? How much shorter battery life do you get with
the smaller batteries? Do all of the batteries drain faster, or do you have
to replace the 1/3 twice as often as the 2/3, etc.? And where can you get
them? Does the extra voltage have any significant chance of damaging the RCX?
