Can an old serial IR tower work in Windows ME for ordinary infrared
communication, e.g., to another computer with an infrared port?
Nothing to do with an RCX or Mindstorms. Just too cheap to buy an infrared
communication adapter. My laptop has an IR port, but my PC does not. Need
to transfer files from time to time between these two computers. My extra
hardware includes one serial IR tower and one USB IR tower. Would like to
use one of these extra towers on the PC with Windows ME's Wireless Link for
Infrared. Any ideas?

| (...) I don't think this will work. There are two kinds of IR comms out there, one kind is called 'IRda' and is used for computer-to-computer types of communications and the other kind is the sort that TV remotes use. The Lego adaptor is of the (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)
