I want to do both. Sometimes while I'm building a robot, I'll test out the
mechanism by using the IR remote before I bother to write code. And also it
would be nice to send "suggestions" to a mostly autonymous robot. And
sometimes, you just want to drive it yourself and chase the dog around!
I am aware of your lego RC remote and receiver, John, and it's on my list of
things to get, along with a proximity sensor of some sort and a compass.
