Dear all,

One of the unsolved challenges posed by the authors of the very fine
"Building Robots with Lego Mindstorms" is to construct a robot that propels
itself jumping, rather than walking on legs or rolling on wheels.

Then that author is incorrect. There were Lego based jumping robots at
several of the Robofests put on here in Austin back in the early half of
the 90's. At least one of them was built along the lines of 'Spring
Turkey'. They used the old Technics sets as a base. You might want to
contact the Austin Robot Group (Tell Don and co. howdy please) for more
info.

It's worth mentioning that there is a new group here in Austin (others are
welcome to participate) forming that will include a robotics SIG.

ps we fixed the DNS a few minutes ago so the primary site (ie
open-forge.org) should go live sometime this weekend. If all goes well we
should begin to have physical meetings sometime in March (if not late
Feb.). That domain name should begin to resolve day after tomorrow since
it's too late to get in their midnite updates.
