Hi Everyone,
With the ability to create mechanical aasemblies and have them control with the
RCX or Scout programmable brick, has the thought of using the Mindstorms kit as
an engineering prototype tool occur to anyone? I think this kit provides a
great environment for product development because of the mechanical,
electrical/electronics and embedded software cohesion that exists.MLCAD
provides an excellent tool for capturing mechanical assemblies and drives for
robots and provide a 3D view for reviewing designs. I'm currently writing a
book for McGraw-Hill on Mindstorms Interfacing and will explain my philosophy
and process of product design and development using the MLCAD and other EE
tools in discussing this prototype tool for robot construction. I'm currently
documenting a mechanical drive design shown in the Scout Constructopedia for
the "Bug" using MLCAD as well as hardware and software control interfaces.

| Hi Don, I read your posting and Jerry's reply with interest. I would like to hear more about your approaches experiences. We have developed a software automation prototyping system, initially for laboratory automation, but could be applied to other (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.robotics)
