I am in the early stages of trying to develop an RC(Remote Control) system
for the RCX. That is, using radio transmission instead of IR(Infrared). Why
you ask? Because the limitations of the IR systems are driving me nuts. So
my question for you is, has anyone attempted this before? Would any of you
be interested in a group effort? I am fairly new to electronics, but I'm
dumb enough to try this anyway. I figure what better way to learn than to
dive in and start working. I realize there is limited space in the RCX, but
I'm thinking maybe a separate piece would be build that is connected to the
RCX via wire, maybe and input port? Thoughts, comments?

This is a VERY bad idea...

You could get a standard RC kit from a model shop and some how make the
servos (motors) to activate a touch sensor.

Told you it was a bad idea - it would have to have four batteries as
well as the 6 in the RCX... It was also be costly - a 4 channel RC kit
costs about £100 (approx $140).

Good Luck

(...) I wouldn't approach the problem like that at all. I think you could take the servomotor pulses and feed them into a sensor port of the RCX - it might take a little analog signal conditioning - but I doubt it's hard to do. The RC reciever could (...)
