I'm looking into the possiblity of building an animatronic version of Tux - the Linux
Penguin.
I'm planning to get one of those cuddly Tux toys and removing the stuffing - then building
a Lego armature inside it to make his head turn a little, perhaps have his beak open and
shut and make him flap his wings and wiggle his feet. Probably all under control of a
PC via IR to the RCX. There could be a box underneath the doll to hold much of the
mechanism.
Does anyone have any experience of this kind of thing that they could share?
Especially the practical issues of retaining enough 'stuffing' material to keep the
shape right - yet not clogging up the mechanisms.
*someone* must have done this before...right?

| (...) That's a great idea! You could even try make a webcam, so everyone can get his personal friendly gesture from Tux. (...) You could put a plastic bag around the mechanism, supported by some light frame that should do it. Jürgen (24 years ago, 17-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)
