  Re: Length of Diagonal Spreadsheet

(...) Yes - I have such a table too - but I generated it with a program that automatically rejects unusable combinations to generate a small list of useful diagonals. (...) Ah! That makes more sense. So you mean errors of 0.05 studs - that's a bit (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Chat server is up! (was: Need for chat server?)

Hello all, I finally found a free moment to set up the chat server for all of us lego and robotics maniacs. My company is going through a merger with another .com so things are a bit busy right now ... I haven't had much time to mess with my lego (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: calculating sensor resistance (Ohm's Law)

Michael, As usual, you are correct. Thanks for pointing out my error. - pete. (...) Techno-stuff Robotics (URL) for FUN ! (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: New Outdoor Robot Photos

Nice images, they should go nicely with your excellent site. I am curious as to the ground that is in those images. Looks like broken gravel with grass or some other green growing through. I am wondering if this is your back yard, or drive way, or (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: New Outdoor Robot Photos

(...) That would be typical rural Tennessee driveway. I picked it because it looks similar to a primary succession biome, and was alot more interesting to look at IMO than plain old grass. (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Windows 2000

I have the Lego Mindstorms Robotic Invention System 1.5 and I was trying to run it in Win2k but am having problems with Direct Player. Let me just give you a background: 1. Before I installed RIS 1.5 in my laptop, I already have QuickTime 4.0 and (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Programming the RCX...

Hello to All, I don't have a LEGO MindStorm Robot to play with yet :>(, but I've been doing a lot of research trying to learn the various techniques used to program the RCX. Do any of you use or plan to use Java to develop your RCX programs? I could (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Programming the RCX...

(...) There certainly is some kind of a Java implementation for RCX. I havn't used it though...most people start off with NQC (Not Quite C) which is a very good starting point...then if you need more, dump the RCX firmware and replace it with (...) (24 years ago, 9-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Programming the RCX...

Steve, Thanks for the reply. I was thinking more along the lines of abstraction and simplification versus a pure visual language. Something that would make programming an RCX alot easier with respect to range checking for valid values, such as motor (...) (24 years ago, 9-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Programming the RCX...

(...) Ah - OK. (...) I think that might just be overkill for a system as simple as the RCX. There are only three motor outputs - and you have no direct control over speed or angles - you can only say "forwards", "reverse", "brake" or "freewheel" (...) (24 years ago, 9-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)
