Yep, besides using the "normal" Light->LightSensor type of comms, the direct electric connection is possible too, by using NQC's Off() and Float() commands, you simulate the ON/OFF state of a TouchSensor. Another way to gather chain links is to pick up the semi-older motorbike sets from ebay, which generally go for sensible prices. I'm referring specifically to sets 8838 and 8422. Clocking at 240+ and 310+ pieces, they provide plenty of non-beam (...) (24 years ago, 20-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

I built a simple solar-powered hexapod last weekend with some new parts I ordered from Pitsco. The walker is quite slow, using the LEGO solar cell to power a 5225 9V motor, which drives a worm gear coupled directly to a 24T gear. I've found the LEGO (...) (24 years ago, 20-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.dacta) !

(...) You can buy both turntables and chains from the Pitsco Dacta people (neither are very cheap!) 35 chain links really don't go very far - each link ends up being only the size of two gear teeth. It takes 20 links just to go once around a 40t (...) (24 years ago, 20-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) The Cybermaster is a pretty big unit. It's turquoise, and the same width & depth as an RCX, but about 2/3 longer. I only just bought the Cybermaster (£50 at amazon.co.uk - bargain!), and I didn't really know what to expect - Fyi, the (...) (24 years ago, 20-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)
