(...) What you really want to ask here is "Has anyone built a 2-legged walker with balance?". I would say it is unlikely that one has been built, but certainly not impossible. For a balancing mechanism you need position sensing, which could be done (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

At the first SMART (Seattle Mindstorms And Robotic Techies) meeting, a number of people brought robots - many of them to participate in our mini-challenge of following the boundary between a black and white region, while others brought some of their (...) (...) I did something similar so my 4yr old daughter could run a robot around on the floor and have it pick up and move lego bricks. I created an Excel spreadsheet that looked like the floorplan of the room. She could make the robot follow a path by (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I built two which move the RCX around to provide balance. One used a rack, the other a pivot (the pivot looked cool, the RCX swinging back and forth looking like the head of some prehistoric monster searching for prey). Mechanically they were (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Not quite that simple, but you could arrange a touch sensor to be actuated by a small cylinder. Use a number of rubber bands to hold the cylinder "in" or ""down" to equal the force corresponding to the pressure you want in the tank. Put air from the (...) I'd LOVE a way to place a sensor on the blue pneumatic tank that would reply with a 1 if the tank was 'charged' or a 0 if it's not 'charged'. Any way to do this you think? I'm picturing something that would go on one end of the tank between the tank (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

(...) I have been working on it, and its a lot harder than it sounds. I have been trying to build a device which moves the RCX around in sync with the leg movements to maintain balance. So far, it doesn't work, and I have some broken pieces to show (...) (24 years ago, 9-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
